custom pin

I have a custom pin style. The png-file is copied to \adminstrator\.....\assets\icons. Works perfect.

On a second site I have Joomla Admin Tools installed, with special folder rights on the \administrator folder. It requires a folder login to access the admin portal.
With the admin tools, the custom pin doesn't work anymore, probably because it is in the administrator folder.
Is there any possibility to store custom pins in \components or \images folder?
