Hi, can't figure out, how to show a map in fullscreen.

Preferably I "want" to use a button to switch from the regular view to full screen.

Hi,
you could install Dima`s Fullscreen-Template, create a new menuitem, link that item to the map and assign the fullscreen-template to that menuitem.

Yes. You can create menu item for map, and assign to it my Full Screen Template. And if some libraries you need (for example, JQuery can be not loaded by joomla automatically), you can load it by adding loading into template (or map) special fields
