I posted you link to explainations how to add some css styles into your template.
Because you want to customize a css styles, which you can do only in your template. My extension, my divs and other objects have IDs and classes. And only you in your template can override definition.
And I posted you link to my docs where I explain how you can change styles for special feature - group list.
I posted you common instructions, because only you know what template you use in page with map.
And you can see on my forum, I try to help for everyone who ask me. And step by step find out the problem and fix it.
But in your case the only was:
version one
- change style on group to external
- copy from my css file to your template styles, alter its names to -external and set what you want
version two (may be it will work)
- alter styles in your template with !important clause to override my styles
PS I don't insist of using my extensions, you are free to choose the other one
