Outside link to a placemark item

I am using your map on a site I am currently working on. It is a great extension. The one think I would like to add to the site is a link from another page in the site to a placemark item. That is, I show a list of "apartments for rent" with some basic information on one page in the site. Part of that information would be a link to the Map page with the "placemark" selected (or clicked). Now it is a three step process - goto the map, select the placemark list, click-on the item in the list that matches what you were looking for.
Sorry if I have missed how you would do this if you have already documented it.
