Placemark order?

Hi,

I have a problem with organising placemarks behind the scenes.

My contacts have to be in a specific non-alphabetical order.

I have been adding placemarks in that order.

But now I've gone above 100, the ordering of the placemarks have become erratic.

The ID order goes
1-29, 117, 30, 116, 31, ... 45, 100, 46, 98 ...

This is making it a nightmare to maintain as I need to synchronize the contacts with the placemarks. As I have inserted and deleted various contacts, finding the matching contact placemark in zhgooglemaps has become very tedious and error prone.

In the same way that people have requested for a Placemark Group ordering, I would like to request a Placemark order feature. In Joomla contacts, there is a column "Ordering" which is perfect for me to order the contact list in a non-alphabetical order.

Under placemarks there is no "Ordering" column. Also, an alternative would have been to order by "Title" and I could have used that to match against the Contacts database. But that option is also not available.

Ideally, in Placemarks, I would like an 'Ordering' column, or as an alternative, an ability to sort by Title.

Would a donation put this onto the list of things to be done soon?

As I post in the other thread, I'll do the ordering in next releases, and now I'm trying to find free time to add some features in my new extensions (for baidu maps) - I still want to complete that my projects

But if you want to rearrange my list for development - you can do that.

PS: for what joomla! version you expect to have firstly.

I did first part and have a little question!

I did in admin:
- sorting in tables by fields
- added Order field, which works like as "standard way" - sort in each category
- I didn't successed to remove grouping by category and have a direct sort of all (without category)

Now I'm thinking of how more convenient to give users to have this ability to use.
Today I decided to create two fields in map details:
- order for placemark group control (group order)
- placemarks order for placemark list

And for placemark list sort values:
- sort by placemark title - (as it now)
- sort by category order, than placemark order
- sort by category title, than placemark order
- sort by category title, than placemark title
- sort by placemark ID

And for placemark group list sort values:
- sort by group title - (as it now)
- sort by category order, than group order
- sort by category title, than group order
- sort by category title, than group title
- sort by group ID

And not decided yet about placemark sort:
- sort by placemark group title, than placemark title
- sort by group category title, placemark group order, than placemark title
- etc

What do you think of it. Is it useful?

Some awesome work you have put it there!!

If I'm right
The placemark list sort values - the 'star' drop down list in the map.
The placemark group list sort values: the sorting of placemark groups on the map.

The placemark sort is the placemark administrator sort.

My particular requirement was the placemark sort in the Administrator, although I see great value in all other features you have added as it gives the user greater control over how things are displayed on the map

For Placemark sort, in the Adminstrator part, I'm happy with the options you have for the 'placemark list sort values'. But I'm sure myself or others will find use for any other options you decide to add once they are there!

I'm really looking forward to your next release after you have completed your testing on it
