In map details there are 2 list item for allow this map types.

I downloaded a file from an app
tracklia and i think i should dare fiel with google maps

I did a few steps and all is working
- get Google Maps API JS key
- go to dashboard or at any part of my extension
- open options and enter your API key
- create simple map (enter title, width, height, set map center)
- create path (assign your map, enter title, on KML layer field I enter your URL)
- create menu item Map and assign your map

And map is shown
 

If you want to have your file on your site, download file, upload it into accessible folder on your site, like, images.
You can create your own folder, just assign correct access rights.
