As for categories in a few columns.
Today group list consists from UL tag and LI element for each group.
I can change it, add ability to change style just for using DIV tag. In this case if you just set style like "float: left" for class for this div, it will be displayed in a few lines. Like you can see in my extension in admin panel - extension dashboard.

It took a while, but the site is almost finished. I'm still testing the geolocation. When I click on geolocation the screen shifts well to the correct position, but does not show a marker. Is that possible?

It is a bug, I'll analyse how you can access to it and will fix.
It is due to porting from my google's extension. In some cases pressing location button produce routing ability or something else action.
I'll check, just give me a few days (I'm off now)
