Sorry. But you can see category for group. It was done by default.

Ie go to groups. Open group details, assign to it category

In this case it will be shown in lists

Here example

    I have the latest version, however I do not use placemarks, but paths.
    And I still cannot see the category-path in the map's Group control.

    Sorry. Probably I didn't understand you right
    I show it in admin panel.

    Do you mean you want to see it in site, ie in group list?
